How To Find Similar or Related Sites On The Web

As an affiliate marketer, I advertise on many websites. You can never predict results on what you advertise but if it works well there is always an opportunity to scale up the campaign and make some good money. Scaling up includes finding more websites to advertise on and finding more similar sites is very important. For eg. If something is working really good for me on Facebook.com, I should try and advertise the same product or offer on sites which are similar to Facebook.com.

Ways To Find Similar Or Related Websites

Alexa Related Links: Alexa gives a list of sites which are related to the site you are researching on. The ‘Related Links’ tab can be found on the site info page of that website on Alexa.com. This is how related links for Facebook.com looks on Alexa

Google Related Sites: Google gives a list of related websites when we search with the ‘related’ parameter. Here is an example of sites related to Facebook.com according to Google.

SimilarSites.com: As the domain name suggests, similarsites.com gives us very nice results to look for websites in similar niche, topic or category.

As you can see the results are more or less similar. This gives us a nice picture on what sites are similar and the chances are that all the similar sites have similar kind of traffic and liking. So as I said, if a campaign is working really well for me on Facebook, the chances are that it might work well on sites like Myspace.com, HiFi.com and others.
There are many other ways of finding similar or related sites and these are the ones I use most of the times. My personal favorite is Alexa as it gives lot more information that I can use for advertising purpose. Lot of people like similarsites.com because it’s pretty straight forward and easy to use and understand. You may use any of these sites/techniques to find sites in a particular niche, topic, category etc.
