New Proton Perdana based on eighth-gen Honda Accord handed over – PM gets a stretched version!

Image
Proton handed over the first batch of its new Proton Perdana cars over to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak today at a ceremony in Putrajaya. The badge on the rear says Perdana and not some other name, making this the second Proton nameplate to get a ‘second generation’ after the Saga. Just as our previous spyshots of mildly disguised previous-generation Accords being tested indicated, the new Proton Perdana is based on the previous-generation Honda Accord. And like the Accord, the new Proton Perdana is available with either a 2.0 litre and 2.4 litre engine, both sourced from Honda. Changes on the front include a new Proton grille and a completely new bumper design. The car also gets a new alloy wheel design. On the rear, we see that the tail lamp elements on the boot lid have been removed, but the chrome that used to run along it at the bottom remains there. This chrome is extended around the sides and bottom of the number plate area. The big boss ma...

Proton Satria Neo R3 launched: RM61k-RM64k

Image
The RM80k R3 Satria Neo flaunted a good number of dress-up and go quicker items, and at the heart of it all was the increase in power output on the 1.6 Campro CPS unit through Stage 2 performance upgrades, to 145 hp at 7,000 rpm and 168 Nm at 5,000 rpm. There’s no change in the power output of the Satria Neo R3, which is the first R3 model to be built on a production line (incidentally, the hatch is now assembled in Shah Alam); the CPS unit delivers the stock 125 hp at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The suspension has also been left untouched. What it does get is a R3 Design front splitter and rear spoiler, with titanium-coloured side protector mouldings. It also wears R3 Design six-spoke 16-inch alloys, finished in a gunmetal shade, wrapped with 195/50 profile Continental MC5 rubbers. All-round R3 badging completes the exterior work. Inside, the edition gets R3 leather upholstery for the seats, as well as R3 floor mats and a double-DIN multimedia player with na...

Proton Exora Prime selling at RM89k

Image
Recently I've discovered that Proton has a new tab for Proton Exora Prime, a more expensive variant of the Exora MPV. The fact is the Exora Prime had actually launched together with the Exora Bold, but there aren't many of Exora Prime on the road due to its higher price tag. Priced at RM89k, the Exora Prime is about RM9k more expensive than Exora Bold, but comes with some exquisite finishings and premium gadgets.  Exterior wise, the Exora Prima has almost the same design as the Exora Bold, except that it comes with gold-finished alloy rims, a slightly different grille design and chrome housing for the fog lights. In the inside, the centre panel receives walnut finishing, which I think it doesn't go well along with the dark-theme cabin. It gets a touch-screen centre console with integrated reverse camera (instead of in the rear-view mirror found in the Exora Bold) and navigation.  Another notable changes in the cabin is the captain chairs for th...

Proton Inspira 2.0 new variant - Executive.

Image
Proton Inspira 2.0 new variant - Executive. No changes are done for the 2.0 litre MIVEC powerplant, which produces 147hp and 197Nm of torque @ 4250rpm. Exterior wise (compared with the Premium), the Executive gains a new 16-inch alloy rim design, trunk lid garnish but loses the bodykit. For its interior, the Executive make do with fabric seats instead of leather in the Premium, comes with 2 integrated rear headrest and receive a space-saver tyre. Other than that, the equipments and safety features are identical to the Premium variant. Pricing for the Inspira 2.0 CVT Executive is RM86,900, which is about RM2k more expensive than the once 1.8 CVT. Thus, the pricing gives the Executive added value for money. But then, I'm sure many buyers will have dilemma on which to choose, the Executive or the top-of-the-line Preve due to the features-laden latter model. Proton Inspira 2.0 new variant - Executive.

PROTON EVOLUSI-G p1

The above picture design is similar to the current interior design of Proton Preve, however, there are better interior catch in the “The Making of Proton Prevé” short video. I believe, the Proton Preve interior is so much better than the other current Proton model, however since is a global car, Preve interior should be better than the others C-segment competitors. While driving, first impression to the interior will give better perception towards the other parts of Proton Preve. Here is another Proton Preve interior design by Proton Design on the “The Making of Proton Prevé”, this give me feels is looks better and younger than the current design. I can saw in the forums out there, many peoples is complaining about the handbrake, the handbrake should be wrapped with leather which won’t seen as so plastic and also will looks more elegance to the whole interior. Perhaps they will do better in SE version?  http://youtu.be/JuTyJbgmOAo

Proton Prevé Sapphire Concept

Image
Proton Prevé Sapphire concept was shown during its launching last night. The car features medium silver body color with sporty bumper front bumper design with detailing insert. The chrome bar at front grill is made bigger compare to production unit and looks fits better with the emblem. The interior has 2 tone color black n cream but personally if it made red instead of cream may look more sportier and appealing.

Proton Prevé : Review From The Showroom

Image
After busy day, admin managed to visit a Proton Showroom at Section 13 Shah Alam to see the new Proton Prevé in the flesh. Before seeing the actual car, admin think base on paper sheet, this car has outpace the Korean namely Kia Forte which now is leading maker in term in car accessories offering given by lengthy spec list in the Prevé. This is good, actually too good for that asking price. Proton Prevé can be considered C segment sedan, given its dimension which outperform other competitors in the same segment. OK not to waste time, lets see how this car feel in the real world compare to other global car in the market. First about its exterior design. We can say its pretty good though it looks a bit rigid. We believe Proton had done benchmarking design of some cars in the market to design the Prevé. The side profile resembles popular Mazda 3 while front looks like Honda City. The roof line is highest in the class thus provide roomy interior image even before enterin...
