2013 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI Launched In Malaysia For RM220K, RM10K Above Golf GTI

Image
The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI has been launched in Malaysia, joining the Beetle 1.2 TSI which was officially introduced at the Volkswagen Das Auto Show 2012 back in September. Despite Volkswagen Malaysia describing the Beetle as "truly the people's car", the Beetle 2.0 TSI is not priced to reflect that statement nor to attract the average Malaysian. At RM 219,888 , the Beetle 2.0 TSI is RM 80K costlier than the Beetle 1.2 TSI. There is no mistaking the 2.0 TSI for its lesser sibling thanks to the ‘Sport Line’ package, which includes ‘Twister’ 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, black mirror housings, red-painted brake callipers, twin tailpipes, and a rear spoiler. Exterior colours count Tornado Red, Saturn Yellow, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, Reef Blue and Oryx White. More differentiation lies in the distinctively Beetle interior, which comes with a panoramic sunroof, aluminium pedals, black dash panels and ...

Volkswagen Polo Sedan - Cheapest VW To Date in Malaysia !

Image
Volkswagen has put in a lot of effort to gain a spot in Malaysia's automotive industry. Starting with the Das Auto Show KL 2011 to now, the cheapest Volkswagen available in Malaysia to date - Polo Sedan. Selling at a starting price of RM99,888 without insurance, it is cheaper than its hatchback sibling, the Polo Hatchback by almost RM10k. The Polo Sedan comes with 5-year warranty and is built and imported from India to Malaysia. The Polo Sedan might seems like a Polo Hatchback with a boot strapped on, but it turns out that Polo Sedan has an extended wheelbase of 82mm from the Polo Hatchback to 2552mm. So you can expect a larger cabin space compared to the Polo Hatchback. As a comparison, Toyota Vios and Honda City has an almost similar 2550mm wheelbase. Besides that, the Polo Sedan looks good and doesn't have the usual awkward rear end eventhough it is based on its hatchback sibling. The Polo Sedan comes with interior chrome package, which lighten up the ra...

Volkswagen Passat CC

Image
Volkswagen Passat CC Volkswagen Passat CC Volkswagen Passat CC The cabin of the Volkswagen Passat CC is also a huge difference when compared to the stark cabin (some would call it minimalist design) of some other Volkswagen models. The dashboard of the Passat CC has curves and silver finishing to contrast with the dark-coloured cabin. Similar to other Volkswagen models, the Passat CC's cabin is built with excellent fit and finishing and also good quality materials. The Passat CC is equipped with a 2.0litre TSi engine with the ability to churn out 210bhp and 280Nm of torque from a relatively low 1700rpm to 5200rpm, mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The 'handbrake' is operated via a 'P' button located at the right of the steering wheel. After releasing the electronic parking brake button, the car responded to the slightest throttle and accelerated swiftly despite its huge dimension. The gearchange was slick thanks to the DSG gearbox, I d...

Volkswagen UP

Image
These are the first official pictures of the new five-door VW up! – and the more practical sister car to the three-door city car is set to make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Volkswagen says that it’s due to hit UK dealers in the second half of this year, so you should see it on sale around September. There was little official information about the new car, but it’s expected to cost around £400 more than the three-door, which means prices will start at £8,395. VW claims the new five-door model will account for half of all up! sales, too. It’s expected to sit on exactly the same wheelbase as the three-door, with no major increase in dimensions. Under the bonnet is the same choice of 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines as the three-door, with 59bhp or 74bhp. There will be a road tax-exempt 99g/km car, too, while VW says it’ll offer the same special editions, including colour-coded black and white launch models.

Volkswagen Passat CC

Image
The sexy Volkswagen Passat CC 4-door coupe has been facelifted, and now it's better than ever! The facelifted Passat CC (above) gained a more upmarket looking front end, resemblance of the Passat Sedan's front end, but only sleeker. The front and rear lights ditched the round theme and went for a more angular theme. Thus, Volkswagen had successfully made the Passat CC sportier after the facelift exercise. New daytime running LED lights are incorporated into the headlights, something which you can easily find in a Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Polo GTI launches in Malaysia

Image
Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd (VGM) believes that the newly-launched Volkswagen Polo GTI will not cannibalise the sales of another Polo variant, the Polo TSI. VGM managing director Ricky Tay said with over 600,000 new vehicles registered a year in Malaysia, there is a different customer range for both variants. "I dont think they will rob the sales from one or the other because there are various differences that the customers are looking at," he said at the launch of the new Polo GTI here yesterday. Tay said VGM expects to sell a few hundred units of the Polo GTI by year-end. "It will be difficult to set a clear target, but we expect a few hundred to be registered," he said, noting that there is a worldwide supply shortage of the Polo GTI. VGM recorded its highest sales of 2,810 units last year since its started operations in 2007. This was attributed to the introduction of three new Volkswagen models, namely Polo 1.2, Golf 1....

Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet

Image
Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is back! After an absence of almost a decade, the popular convertible has returned and slots below the folding hard-top Eos in the range. For the first time on an open-top Golf, this model doesn’t get any visible roll-over hoops. Instead, it gets the pop-up system featured in the Eos that activates if the car detects it’s about to flip over. As a result, the design of the car is not as fussy, and it looks a lot more upmarket. The front and rear lights are LED units as standard which adds to the stylish design, while the canvas roof can be lowered in only 9.5 seconds while driving up to speeds of 18mph – if you are interested in practicality, it's worth noting that there’s still a surprisingly spacious 250-litres boot when it is folded away.  As well as the practical boot, the Golf Cabriolet boasts the same wheelbase as the Eos which makes seating four tall adults a breeze. Rear seats are comfortable, if a little expose...

VolkswagenCamper is reborn

Image
Volkswagen has hit a retro bullseye! More than 60 years since the classic camper van debuted, the firm has unveiled the latest incarnation: the Bulli. Generations of fans have known successive models as the Camper, Type 2, Microbus and Samba bus, but Bulli was the name given to the original van from 1950. It returns in a concept that borrows classic design features such as the oversized front badge, two-tone paintjob and plunging V in the bonnet. But this latest camper is a thoroughly modern affair. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive original, the newcomer sends drive to the front wheels via an 85kW electric motor drawing power from lithium-ion batteries mounted under the floor. VW claims the Bulli can cover 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds and go 186 miles on a charge. Petrol and diesel units from 1.0 to 1.4 litres can also be fitted, hinting at powertrains for the forthcoming Up! The new car is shorter than the original and 2001’s Microbus concept, at just under four metres long. It’s much...
