Subaru XV STI Performance Edition debuts – RM144k

Image
The Subaru XV STI Performance Edition has just made its regional debut here in Malaysia – specifically at exclusive distributor Motor Image’s brand new Subaru 3S Centre in Petaling Jaya . The crossover, now done up with look-faster STI parts, retails for RM143,800 before insurance. It’s essentially a bodykit package for the Subaru XV , but don’t anyone dare call it a mere dress-up job in front of STI officials. The hallowed tuning firm insists that the STI Performance package isn’t just a simple aerokit, but finely honed add-ons that bring about both aesthetic and dynamic enhancements over the base vehicle. The original Subaru Tecnica International (STI) parts boast proper functionality, which have been developed and checked by the wind tunnel and STI test engineers. There’s substance behind the style, apparently. An all-around bodykit and a rear spoiler mark out the XV STI Performance – each with prominent STI branding, of course. The aero bits are said...

Subaru BRZ

Subaru BRZ Subaru has finally given us the first glimpse of how its rear-wheel-drive BRZ sports car is shaping up with the BRZ Concept STi, which was revealed at the  Los Angeles Motor Show . The new model is part of a tie-up with Toyota and shares many of its components with the upcoming FT-86. Much of the chassis was engineered by Subaru –  along with the 2.0-litre flat-four Boxer engine – but Toyota's fuel-saving direct injection system will also feature. Leaked specs reveal that Toyota's model will boast 197bhp – and although there are rumours that the Subaru BRZ could have around 250bhp, company sources wouldn't confirm this. Visually, the two models boast a very similar profile, but Subaru will differentiate the BRZ from its Toyota sibling with a more aggressive bodykit and Subaru's family face. Every body panel on the BRZ concept will change slightly for production, although the car will look pretty much identical to the one you see here...

Subaru XV

Subaru is preparing to unveil the all-new XV crossover during September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The model was previously shown in concept form at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year and Subaru’s designers claim to have stayed true to the look of that car. The teaser shot clearly shows the same blistered wheel arches, prominent grille and headlights as the concept.  When it goes on sale early next year, the XV will go head-to-head with Nissan’s Qashqai and looks set to replace the Subaru Forester in the line-up.  The firm also claims it will bring a new level of “engineering excellence” to the segment.  Unlike Nissan’s crossover the XV will be four-wheel drive only and it will come with a range of engines including an entry-level 1.6-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel unit.
