Moto G5 plus

Image
Lenovo Malaysia has dropped a note to us that a Moto event is taking place on 29 May 2017. Following the release of its  Moto M  smartphone earlier this year, we believe this is likely to be the launch of the  Moto G5 Plus  which was introduced during  MWC 2017 . The Moto G lineup has been Motorola’s popular mid-range series and it’s now in its 5th generation with the G5 and G5 Plus. Among the two models, the G5 Plus is the device that you should be looking out for. It gets a 5.2″ Full HD IPS display and a unibody metal design. Under the hood, it runs on a frugal 14nm 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 processor and there are different spec options depending on the region. The G5 Plus comes with up to 4GB RAM along with storage options up to 32GB. You can expand storage via microSD up to 256GB. At the rear, it gets a 12MP f/1.7 main camera with Dual Autofocus Pixels which Lenovo says it is the most advanced in its class. Meanwhile, the front gets a 5MP f/2.2 sel...

Motorola Fire & Fire XT smart phones under RM1000

Image
While mobile device makers outdo each other with high end models, there’s always a market for mid-tier devices. There are people that won’t want to invest too much on a phone but yet requires smart phone features to stay connected. Lately we are seeing more Android phones with prices below RM1000 entering segments that once considered safe zone for featured phones. Just recently IMCC, a local retailer has announced 2 new Motorola Android devices below RM1000 mark – Motorola Fire and Motorola Fire XT. The Motorola Fire priced at RM699 is an entry-level Android smart phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It runs on a Qualcomm 600MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM with storage expandable with microSD. Above the keyboard, the Fire has a capacitive 2.8″ TFT display which does a rather low 320×240 QVGA display. Although the specs are entry level, the Motorola Fire runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. At the back it has a 3.15MP camera and is powered with a 1420mAh batte...

White Motorola Droid RAZR

Image
White Motorola Droid RAZR  Whenever a phone comes out, there are consumers that asked if it comes with white. These days, white is the new trend and often phone manufacturers release a white version later to give that exclusive/limited bragging rights for those that have waited. Now in the US, Verizon has announced the white colour Motorola Droid RAZR which is perfect for the Christmas season. Looking at the pic, it isn’t a fully “white” model as one would expect. The only thing that’s white is the bezel and the frame that covers the back. The rest looks pretty much the same as the black version including that sexy black kevlar. Personally we rather go black for the RAZR. For us folks in Malaysia, no idea if Motorola is going to do the same for the GSM version Motorola RAZR.

Further price reduction on Motorola Xoom

Image
It seems to be raining tablets in Malaysia with massive offers and smaller sized tablets coming our way. The Motorola Xoom is now more attractive with another round of price cut. According to IMCC, the Motorola Xoom WiFi is now priced at RM1,399 while the Motorola Xoom WiFi + 3G version is going for RM1,599. That’s a massive price difference which is almost RM1,000 less from its launch price. This offer is valid from IMCC while stocks last. Just to recap on the specs, both Motorola Xoom 3G and WiFi versions runs on a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and comes with 32GB of internal storage. Just recently Android 3.2 Honeycomb update has been rolled out to Xoom users which puts it up to date with other tablets out there. If you’re looking for a better bargain for the Xoom, you might want to check out Maxis RM299 Xoom 3G offer which recently resumed.

Motorola brings the RAZR brand back

Image
Click for larger image Back in its day, the RAZR name was the epitome of style. Whoever rocked a RAZR immediately looked classy. Then the game changed, flip-phones went out of style, replaced with full touchscreen smartphones with the iPhone leading the pack. Motorola wants to bring the iconic RAZR brand and by the looks of it, it is sexier than ever! Motorola together with Verizon in the US will be unveiling the new RAZR at 12am tonight Malaysian time and we will be providing you with the latest updates. The DROID RAZR is touted to be possibly the the thinnest Android in the market. It is expected to feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 4.3-inch qHD display along with improved cameras all around and possibly NFC. The picture above are the first official shots of the device and by the looks of it the new RAZR will give the Google Nexus Prime (aka Galaxy Nexus) a run for its stylish money. Head on over the after the jump for a teaser of the impending sexyness that ...

Samsung GalaxyTab vs. Xoom vs. iPad

Image
From the makers of the iPad 2 drop test, we have a new drop test video pitting the Apple tablet against the Motorola Xoom and the evergreen Samsung Galaxy Tab 7. Both the Xoom and Galaxy Tab have screens strengthened with Gorilla Glass while the iPad is a bit of an unknown. It does have some sort of treated glass but it is not known if the glass is from Corning and by the looks of the video…well just take a look see.

Confirmed! Motorola Xoom Malaysia launch happening April 28

Image
The Motorola Xoom will be the first tablet in the country to run Android’s tablet only Honeycomb OS. With a 10.1-inch screen, 32GB of on board storage, a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP forward-facing camera, 1GB of RAM with a 1GHz dual-core processor, the Xoom is the iPad 2′s closest competitor and the most competent. But the next-gen specs on the Motorola Xoom come with a hefty asking price — USD$799 for the 3G version and USD$599 for the WiFi version. For Malaysia, it is almost a certainty that we will be getting the WiFi only version. The launch partner for the Motorola Xoom is none other than Maxis and it will be interesting to see what sort of plans the telco will introduce considering that the Malaysia-bound Xooms are WiFi only devices which don’t really need a telco plan. This development is bound to make quite a number of iPad 2 would be buyers think twice and adopt a wait and see approach. If the price is right we’re pretty sure that there will be a few that’s going to forgo th...

Motorola Droid 2 burst after phone call

Image
Aron Embry had a nasty incident with his 2 day old Motorola Droid 2. While hanging up on a call, he suddenly heard a loud pop and felt something flowing down his face. It was then he realised that his Moto Droid 2 had burst part of the front screen and he started bleeding. Lucky for him, he suffered no hearing loss but had to receive four stitches on the ear. Meanwhile, the culprit device surprisingly still works and doesn’t seem to show any problems on the internal hardware. We have heard about exploding phones especially when being used during charge. Most of these incidents were blamed on uncertified phones or unlicensed 3rd party batteries. However this certainly raised eyebrows as its a brand new device coming from a well to do maker like Motorola. Motorola is taking this seriously and had issued the following statement:

Motorola Charm And Flipout Now Available At Maxis

Image
2 more Android smartphones hit our shores recently, through Maxis. The 2 phones are Motorola Charm and Motorola Flipout, and guess what, I never heard of it before. Forgive my ignorance to these phones, but it is really not the type of phone that I love to have. Unlike previous Android smartphone available at Maxis, this time both phones equipped with physical qwerty keypad, and perhaps meant for business or ex-Blackberry user who would want to use Android but prefer qwerty keyboard. The phone kinda bulky and looks square. In term of the design, both phones look identical with the only big difference is on the keypad which can be slide in and out on Motorola Flipout. Each run on Android 2.1 with 3MP camera and 2.8 inch tft touch screen, yeah you heard it right, touch screen. Motorola Charm and Motorola are priced from RM649 and RM799 each respectively for 2 years contract.
