The ASUS ZenFone series have seen tremendous success. Just recently ASUS Malaysia has managed to propel itself to the #3 Smart Phone spot in the last quarter. As for the models, there are just so many variants of its mid-range ZenFone 5 that we are starting to lose count. To add more choice, a newer ZenFone 5 Lite is expected to come to Malaysia and from the sounds of it, it will be an affordable variant of the ZenFone 5 that still maintains a 5″ display. It was recently spotted in our Malaysian SIRIM database with the model number A502CG. The ZenFone 5 Lite was recently announced in the Philippines with the price tag of just 5,595 Pesos (or about RM417). This slots right between its current ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 5. In terms of specs , the 5″ display pushes qHD resolution of 960×540 but thankfully it uses IPS panel that offers better viewing angles. If you’re looking for an Android tablet that’s different from the usual boxy design, the new  ASUS Memo Pad 7  (ME572CL) with 4G LTE is something worth checking out. Design wise, the Memo Pad 7 which is said to be inspired by clutch bags and wallets, is available in 3 colours, with each having a distinctive texture. The Rose Champagne colour has a pearl finish, while the Burgundy Red model comes with a dark lacquer coat that ASUS says mimics that of a grand piano. Lastly the Gentle Black model with a matte-black finish and texture which claims to look and feel like fine leather. While the exterior looks more stylish than other compact rivals, the MemoPad 7’s body uses fiberglass which is reinforced by a duralumin frame. Nobody does convergence devices like ASUS. From the original ASUS Transformer to PadFone, ASUS seems to be able to marry 2 different product categories in a single solution that works. Admittedly such products isn’t for everyone especially when its priced more premium than the typical tablet & smart phone. Now ASUS has released a new teaser which hints yet another hybrid device that’s launching in a few weeks time. This is seen to be the successor of the current ASUS Transformer Book Trio that offers both Android & Windows operating system in a hybrid tablet, laptop and desktop mode. The video teases Green or Blue, One or Two which likely to indicates Android & Windows in either tablet or laptop mode. All shall be revealed at CES 2014 in Las Vegas on the 6th of January 2014. ASUS PadFone mini 4.3 now official with 4.3″ smart phone & 7″ tablet combo    ASUS has officially announced the PadFone mini 4.3, which offers a tablet-smart phone convergence in a compact size. While the previous PadFone models offer a 10″ tablet station, the new PadFone mini comes features a 7″ tablet and a dockable 4.3″ smart phone. In addition, it also comes with dual-sim capability. The smart phone which powers the entire PadFone solution runs on a quad-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM and over at the front it comes with a 4.3″ display that does 960×540 pixels resolution. The ASUS PadFone Infinity which is arriving in Malaysia this month has gotten a new sibling. Simply called as the New PadFone Infinity, the new version offers updated hardware and some improvements on its build quality. Although the design is rather identical, there are some subtle changes on the new version. The back comes with diamond cut edges which gives it a more premium feel, a microSD card slot for storage expansion and a secondary mic for noise cancellation. Internally, the processor is upgraded from the previous 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 to a faster 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800. . The rest of the PadFone hardware remains the same which includes a 5″ Full HD Super IPS display, 13MP BSI camera, 2MP front facing camera and a 2,400mAh battery. ASUS Malaysia has been teasing the launch of MeMO Pad HD 7 on its official website as well as on Facebook since early this month. Well, the wait is about to be over because the Taiwanese company will bring the tablet to Malaysia in mid August. According to a spokesperson from ASUS Malaysia, they will announce MeMO Pad HD 7 in a media event on August 14. FYI, the tablet was first unveiled earlier last month at Computex Taipei 2013. The tablet may hit stores as early as August 15, a week after the Raya celebration. To recap on the specs,  ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7  features a 7-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution and 170 degree wide viewing angles. Earlier today, ASUS Malaysia launched to local market the world’s first All-in-One PC that comprises of two different devices (a tablet and a PC Station) with dual operating systems – Windows 8 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean . The FonePad made its debut at the 2013 Mobile World Congress and is a new breed of 7-inch tablets to feature Intel Atom processors as opposed to the more conventional Snapdragon or Exynos chips in other tablets. Intel claims that its Atom chips designed for mobile internet devices offer better power efficiency over competitors. The tablet is encased in an aluminium body (available in Champagne Gold or Titanium Grey) and feels like a premium version of the Nexus 7 with almost identical dimensions and the same display resolution of 1280×800 pixels pushing a pixel density of 216ppi. The phone Thanks mostly to its metal edges, the phone piece looks and feels not too dissimilar from an iPhone 5, but wider and a bit longer. It has a durable metal encasing and felt light in my hands. The buttons were raised just enough to deliver a satisfying click when pushed. If you're at all familiar with with Asus' Transformer line, then you won't be surprised by the tablet piece's form factor. It's about the same size as the Transformer Infinity and feels about as light; however, its body is of plastic as opposed to the cold, smooth metal of the phone. Cheap and Cheerful: The ASUS MeMo Pad Comes to Malaysia with a RM499 Pricetag If you’re looking for a really cheap 7-inch tablet to occasionally tote around, the ASUS MeMo Pad is worth a look. At RM499 — RM500 cheaper than the iPad mini and Nexus 7 — the MeMo Pad is specced to a budget with a 1024×600 (versus 1280×800 on the Nexus 7 and 1024×768 on the iPad mini) display producing 350-nit of brightness and a pixel density of just 170ppi, well below the industry average though viewing angle is good at a claimed 140 degrees. ASUS PadFone 2 is finally launched in Malaysia today with the price tag of RM2,799. As the successor of the original PadFone, the new version comes with a larger 4.7″ smartphone which is now powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 processor mated with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The PadFone station which is the tablet dock is now slimmer and lighter at just 649 grams with the phone docked. Also new on the PadFone 2 is a slide-in docking mechanism which is much more seamless. ASUS Malaysia has sent out invitations to select media friends to attend the launch event of Padfone 2 – the second generation of the Padfone smartphone and tablet combo. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 13 in Kuala Lumpur. Padfone 2 made its first debut on  October 16 . In addition to Malaysia, the smartphone/tablet combo will be available by the end of year in Europe (Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Sweden) and Asia (Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and U.A.E).
