The Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 3G connectivity support was launched about a year ago at RM1,899. This is a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a 10″ tablet with broadband bundle for cheap. Although the device is quite dated, it is still sufficient enough for typical web browsing and video viewing. Click to enlarge Samsung has revealed its 2 new Android tablets – Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) and Tab 2 (10.1) . Although the hardware and size isn’t exactly new compared with the previous Galaxy Tab line up , both tablets run on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. So how is it different from the existing Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and Tab 10.1? For the Tab 2 (7.0), it is basically a notch lower than the 7.0 Plus with a 1.0GHz dual-core processor and comes with a lower VGA front facing camera. In terms of dimensions, the Tab 2 (7.0) is slightly thicker by 0.5mm but it still maintains the same weight at 345g. For the Tab 2 (10.1) which was just announced, it now comes with a microSD expansion slot, which is currently lacking on the Tab 10.1. However just like the Tab 2 (7.0), it also uses a low end VGA camera for the front. Dimension wise, it is slightly thicker by 1.1mm and weighs and extra 23 grams compared to the Tab 10.1. U Mobile has revealed its Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and Samsung Galaxy W plans ahead of its 5th December dateline. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus goes for as low as RM999 while the Galaxy W as low as RM349 on U Mobile’s U88 plan. If 3GB a month is too much, you can opt for U28 or U58 plans. The price difference for the device is RM200 in between postpaid plans. In terms of contract duration, both devices are tied with 24 months contract. Just a few weeks back Samsung had announced that it was getting a bit tired of trying to think up catchy new names for all of its phones and instead was going to be reverting back to the habit of using a combination of letters and numbers. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 comes with a generous 5,100mAh battery and weighs only 335g, which is 45g lighter than its predecessor. When compared to its larger Galaxy Tab 10.1 (8.6mm thickness), it is even thinner at 7.89mm! Celcom has put out a countdown timer to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it is T-minus six days to launch day. Not counting today, that would mean the launch of the much awaited Honeycomb tablet will be on Monday, August 22 (if our calculation is correct) — just in time for the Raya celebrations. Maxis now has another Android tablet in the mix with the Huawei Ideos S7 tablet which is a notch lower than the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Huawei Ideos S7 goes for RM1599 but on contract, it goes for RM999 over 12 months or RM899 over 24 months. To be on contract, you would need to bolt on either a 500MB, 1.5GB or a 3.0GB on top of a Value Plus plan 50 and above Huawei Ideos S7 comes with a 7″ screen that does a modest 800×480 resolution with 262K colours and it runs on Android 2.1. One of the most anticipated gadget this year finally hit our shores beginning last week, via Maxis. The price though is little bit steep at RM2699 without contract, or RM1749 or RM1849 for 12 months and 24 months contract respectively. The contract is varies from RM108 and onward for 500MB worth of data plus voice plan, which I feel is unnecessary as tablet is used mostly for non-voice usage. Samsung Galaxy Tab is 7 inch tablet running on Android 2.2. It comes with Wifi and 3G connectivity and using normal sim card, unlike iPad that used micro sim. Powering it is 1Ghz processor with 16GB storage to store your data. Samsung Galaxy Tab is regarded by many tech blog as true competitor to iPad, but as it is pricing closed to iPad which run on IOS that specifically tailored for tablet sized screen, iPad still has the edge over Samsung Galaxy Tab, at least for now.
