Rumours about the new iPhones are rife and the latest one reported by Japan’s Nikkei says that the first wave of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C shipments will hit Japan on September 20. Japan, like the US and a few other key markets, were among the first countries to start selling the iPhone 5 and if Nikkei’s sources are reliable, it’s a good indication of when we can expect the new iPhones to hit Malaysia. If we had to guess, it would be somewhere between November and December perhaps even as early as October. What’s certain is that Celcom, DiGi and Maxis will offer the new iPhones at the same time. Maxis Malaysia has showcased its iPhone 5 plans and pricing last week. To our surprise, the network provider has added a new and cheaper iValue plan ahead of the iPhone 5 launch at midnight December 14. The new, cheaper plan is called the iValue Simple.

Here is an interesting theory: the new dock connector in Apple's new iPhone 2012 could be a 19-pin port that would be mechanically and electrically compatible with the micro-USB standard. I don't know what it would be like, but I love the idea. The theory is that Apple would have engineered this new dock connector in order to comply with the European Union directive to standardize chargers around micro-USB. This would make the iPhone compatible with the standard set by the European Standardisation Bodies CEN-CENELEC and ETSI, as well as by the Open Mobile Terminal Platform. The rumour mills are spinning on overdrive, in the midst of a slew of Samsung Galaxy S III rumours we see a report from Reuters about Apple’s upcoming iPhone. The report came from a South Korean media – Maeil Business Insider – which quoted an unnamed industry source saying that the new iPhone will have a sharper and bigger 4.6-inch “retina” display. A report coming from Bloomberg revealed that Germany’s Deutsche Telekom has already opened pre-orders for the new iPhone right now. This is highly irregular considering the fact that no confirmed information, including its launch date and event official name of the device has been announced by Apple. Bloomberg has reported today that a source close to Apple had revealed that a new iPhone will be coming in September. This puts more weight onto the buzz and rumours of September launch. The key highlights would be an improved processor featuring A5′s dual-core processing power found on the iPad 2 and a bump in camera pixel count to 8MP. It is also shared that a new iPad is under testing right now which boasts a higher resolution screen, which is similar to the one used in iPhones. During WWDC, Apple didn’t introduce any new hardware but instead revealed iOS 5 which added new functionality and features to the existing iPhones and iPads.
