Ford EcoSport – Venturing into the ASEAN Small SUV Segment
What better way to introduce a vehicle than to show it at one of the biggest motor show events in the world. Making its ASEAN debut at the 2013 Bangkok International Motor Show, Ford has finally revealed its all-new compact SUV, the 2013 Ford EcoSport.
As a new entry to the B-segment category, the new EcoSport shows Ford’s effort in penetrating the small car segment and to further grow their offerings in the ASEAN market.
The new Ford EcoSport is powered by a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine. Highlighting practicality, flexibility, spaciousness and agility of a small car, the new Ford SUV also ensures quality, safety and top-of-the-class fuel efficiency.
Carrying the image of a smart urban vehicle, the new Ford EcoSport pushes the envelope by featuring the Ford SYNC voice-activated in-car connectivity system, which uses voice commands to control the digital media players and Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones.
The new EcoSport also equipped with other nifty features such as Smart Keyless Entry, Power Start, rear parking sensors, and safety features such as dual front airbags, curtain airbags, ABS and ESP.
In producing the new 2013 EcoSport, Ford had invested $450 million for a state-of-the-art Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) facility in Rayong. As Ford’s largest expansion in 50 years, the FTM is one of the nine new Ford plants, signifying their growth across the Asia Pacific region.
Dave Schoch, President of Ford Asia Pacific said that “Thailand is one of our key global production and export hubs, and an essential part of the Company’s overall global growth strategy in Asia Pacific.
