Download Firefox 4 Beta Now. It is FAST!

Image
Firefox 4 beta is now available for download now and it is few times faster than previous version. Users are also encouraged to give feedback about the beta version. Firefox 4 has a slicker look and tab bar is at the top by default. Some new features are Firefox settings synchronization, tabs organizer, and new add-on manager that opens in tab. A major improvement of Firefox 4 Beta is the huge performance enhancements (few times better than Firefox 3.x). Refer to the chart below: I downloaded the Firefox 4 beta 10 for Mac OS X version. In order to test Firefox 4 beta in production, I have set Firefox as my default browser (I was using Google Chrome as default web browser). In my test, loading Facebook.com is about 1 second faster than Google Chrome. The memory usage is well kept under 300MB, while Google Chrome is a memory monster! In a nutshell, I like Firefox 4 and I will try it for a longer time to see if Firefox will return to be my permanent default browser or not.

Smart Car Vending Machine in Japan

Image
Smart Marketing in Japan The clever "vending machine" pictured above is located in Japan. You can't really buy a smart car from it, but you can get brochures and info about the various smart models. Yeah, it is anti-climactic. Smart Car: Good and Bad The smart fortwo is certainly a mixed bag. While the diesel version gets in the 60+ miles per gallon range and can be run on biodiesel, the gasoline version is only rated at a combined 36 miles per gallons by the EPA . But that doesn't take away from the smart's impact in making very small urban cars more mainstream, and making other compact cars look bigger in comparison. Upcoming Smart-like Cars The teacher might soon be surpassed by the students: Toyota's iQ urban microcar looks like it might be more practical with its 3+1 seating configuration, and it will probably have better performance and fuel economy than the smart car in the gasoline model. There's also the all-electric Mitsubishi's i M...

Ferrari’s revolutionary new four-seater, all-wheel drive FF

Image
The replacement from Ferrari for the 612 Scaglietti model is finally here after much hype and expectations. The concept of this car comes from the well known Maranello, thus in turn increasing the expectations from the upcoming car. The car will be called the Ferrari Four aka FF. The FF is all set to become one of the most versatile models that the company has ever produced. A four seater with ample luggage space, the car is equipped with an all wheel drive system and a shooting brake body style. This year’s March edition of The Geneva Motor Show will see the release of the much awaited car.

Ferrari's fantastic four-wheel-drive FF flagship four-seat fastback

Image
The long-anticipated successor to the 612 Scaglietti takes the stage as Ferrari's flagship grand tourer. It carries four seats like its predecessor, but elongates the roofline for a shooting brake/hatchback body-style that offers plenty of cabin space and – with those rear seats folded down – as much cargo capacity as a small wagon. It may be the first shooting brake to roll out of Maranello since the legendary 250 Breadvan, but that's not even the extent of the firsts pioneered in the new Ferrari Four. It also carries the company's long-in-the-making part-time all-wheel drive system: the innovation is called 4RM, and while technical details haven't been revealed, it is said to be only half as heavy as a conventional system, helping the front-engined shooting brake keep a 47:53 rearward weight bias. Coupled with a sub-4,000 pound curb weight (some 110 pounds less than the 612), the HELE stop-start system previewed in the California concept from the Paris show also he...

Android concept phone

Image
Designed by interaction designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen, the Flip phone is convincingly something we all can look forward to may three to four years down the line. The party trick of the Flip is its three screens that can transform into different interfaces depending on what the user wants to do with it. The designer says that having three screens on a phone opens up a number of possibilities in dealing with the content on the device. Like the ability to expand content onto multiple screens or having multiple apps running on separate screens, it’s possible for the user to do a lot more productive, and creative things.
