Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 launched in Malaysia – RM1.2 million tax-free, RM2.1 million with tax

Image
The Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 is now officially in Malaysia, having made its debut in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. The Huracan replaces the successful Gallardo in Lamborghini’s line-up, and retails for about RM2.1 million with duties, give or take. The amount for duties isn’t really finalised yet, but if you have the ability to buy the car sans duty, you’ll have to put up RM1.2 million. The name Huracan pays homage to a Spanish fighting bull. The 1,422 kg supercar is powered by a new “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” naturally-aspirated 5.2 litre V10 making 610 hp at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The 100 km/h sprint is done in just 3.2 seconds – wait a while longer and 200 km/h is hit in 9.9 seconds from stop, on to a top speed of 325 km/h. Power is sent to four wheels via a seven-speed “Lamborghini Doppia Frizione” dual-clutch transmission, a first for a Lambo and an upgrade from the Gallardo’s e.gear automated manual transmission. Three drive modes are available –...

Sharp Aquos Crystal announced with bezel-less design

Image
Like high definition TVs, Sharp is on a pursuit to make bezels as thin as possible. Looks like they have nailed with its latest Sharp Aquos Crystal that comes with no bezels. It offers an edge to edge display except for its bottom portion which also houses its front facing camera. While it is a design marvel, the Aquos Crystal is quite a mid-tier device with a 5″ display that does HD 720p resolution and a Snapdragon 400 processor that’s mated to just 1.5GB of RAM. For taking pictures, it gets a 8MP main camera and a front facing 1.2MP shooter. It also supports 4G LTE and with a 2,040mAh battery on board, it weighs 140 grams with a thickness of 10mm. Design wise, it reminds us of an Xperia S from 2 years back. Having zero bezels does look stunning but we are curious to see how it fares against accidental touches and side impacts when dropped from the sides. The Aquos Crystal will only be released in Japan and exclusively available in the US via Sprint.

Subaru XV STI Performance Edition debuts – RM144k

Image
The Subaru XV STI Performance Edition has just made its regional debut here in Malaysia – specifically at exclusive distributor Motor Image’s brand new Subaru 3S Centre in Petaling Jaya . The crossover, now done up with look-faster STI parts, retails for RM143,800 before insurance. It’s essentially a bodykit package for the Subaru XV , but don’t anyone dare call it a mere dress-up job in front of STI officials. The hallowed tuning firm insists that the STI Performance package isn’t just a simple aerokit, but finely honed add-ons that bring about both aesthetic and dynamic enhancements over the base vehicle. The original Subaru Tecnica International (STI) parts boast proper functionality, which have been developed and checked by the wind tunnel and STI test engineers. There’s substance behind the style, apparently. An all-around bodykit and a rear spoiler mark out the XV STI Performance – each with prominent STI branding, of course. The aero bits are said...

Kia Cerato 1.6 KX – new base model available, RM90k

Image
Naza Kia has quietly introduced the Kia Cerato 1.6 KX, a new base trim for the sharply-designed C-segment sedan . The KX retains high equipment levels while dropping the price a full RM10,000 over the regular 1.6 model to RM89,888 on the road with insurance, but a fair few compromises have been made in the process. Those compromises aren’t very noticeable when you look outside – the only changes to the exterior over the regular Cerato 1.6 are the removal of the chrome window strip and LED combination tail lights, the latter replaced by conventional bulb items. Inside, the changes are a little more apparent. The dual-zone automatic climate control has been replaced by a manual single-zone unit, auto-levelling headlights have been replaced by manual controls and you can say goodbye to the aluminium pedals, electric seats with memory, gear shift paddles, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, leather-wrapped steering...

2014 Honda Jazz on trailer in Malaysia

Image
It looks like the new 2014 Honda Jazz has landed on our shores – reader Rozaimi sighted this trailer near the Bukit Jelutong toll carrying two units of the B-segment hatch. They’re completely covered up with a white cloth but we’re think no other hatchback of that shape and size would be sharing a trailer with a shipment of Honda City , agreed? The Jazz’s Malaysian launch will happen some time this year, following the Thailand launch which saw multiple variants launched from RM55k. Listings on oto.my have suggested a few launch dates from July to September – a pretty wide spectrum, but dealers have been known to be wrong thanks to the principal giving out conservative dates to play it safe. We’re predicting a third quarter 2014 launch for this one. The 2014 Honda Jazz’s drivetrain should be similar to our Honda City ‘s, comprising a 120 PS/145 Nm 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder motor and a CVT automatic transmission. The Thailand spec car s...
