Nexus 7 maker Asus confirms sales of Google’s tablet approaching 1m units a month

Google's Nexus 7 tablet appears to be selling well, with its manufacturer claiming that almost a million units a month are being snapped up by consumers. Sales of Google’s Nexus 7 device appear to be going well, with manufacturer Ausus reportedly saying it’s close to hitting the million-a-month milestone. Google’s first tablet offering was generally well received by industry critics when it launched in July this year though until this week there had been little word from the two companies behind the device as to just how well it was selling. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday following the Taiwan-based firm’s third-quarter earnings conference call, Asus chief financial officer David Chang said of Nexus 7 sales, “At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million.” Positive reviews and increasing availability around the world will ...

2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

Image
This convertible version of Lamborghini's Aventador supercar is sure to keep things hot even as fall turns into winter. When the one-off Aventador J was unveiled earlier this year, we knew it was only a matter of time before a new production topless Lamborghini arrived to grace the show floors and casino parking lots of the world. That car, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, is finally here. With the top down, the Roadster looks just as sleek as its hardtop sibling, thanks to faired headrests and an engine cover with unusual diamond-shaped windows, evoking a bit of Lambo’s Sesto Elemento concept. Lamborghini refers to the part that runs down the center of the engine cover as the “spinal column,” which is a pretty cool name for a styling detail. The top itself is made of two pieces of carbon fiber, which weigh 13.2 pounds each. They not only reduce the Aventador’s overall weight, but they also make it easier for owners to stow them in the car’s front lu...

Huanghai Plutus pick-up truck – 2.8L M/T from RM62k UPDATE: More pics of the Malaysian-spec Plutus added If you were at Matrade yesterday to witness the Asia Klasika 2012 and drop by our oto.my booth, you might have seen this strange pick-up truck, which my eye caught as I was about to leave the place. Looking very much like the previous-gen Chevrolet Colorado that wasn’t sold here, say hello to the Huanghai Plutus. The Huanghai brand belongs to Liaoning Shuguang Automotive Group, which is based in the northeast Chinese city of Dandong, Liaoning Province. The Plutus is brought in by China Auto Manufacturers (CAM), a member of the Sendok Group from Klang. The double-cab Plutus is available in 4X4 and 4X2 forms, and is powered by an Isuzu-derived 4JB1T 2,771 cc diesel engine. This eight-valve turbo engine makes 100 hp and 230 Nm of torque at 2,200 rpm. No auto option, so the sole transmission choice is a five-speed manual. Standard kit includes ABS, EBD,...
