New Mercedes SL

Image
Believe it or not, the current generation Mercedes SL has been around since 2002 but revisions and facelifts have kept the grand tourer feeling fresh. As these spy shots reveal though, there’s a new one on the way and it’s set to be more comfortable, more efficient and better handling than ever thanks to a host of hi-tech gadgets.  Chief among them will be the Magic Ride Control system that’s also set to feature on the new Mercedes S-Class. Cameras scan the road ahead to analyse the surface and set up the suspension accordingly. An Active Curve system is also likely to feature, which uses active anti-roll bars to stop the car leaning in the bends and helps to improve handling.  Mercedes will stick with the folding hard-top roof but it will now be available with the option of a Magic Sky Control panel which can be turned from transparent to almost opaque at the touch of a button. Alternatively, buyers can opt for a standard sun-roof.  Visually the...

Samsung Galaxy Note review

Image
Click for larger image If you’ve read through our Motorola RAZR vs Galaxy S II vs Galaxy Note camera comparison, you’ll notice that in less that ideal lighting both the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II struggles with white balance, but this is not the case in most conditions as you can see in the sample shots here. A point worth noting: The Galaxy Note uses continuous focus in video mode. This can be a bit of nuisance for some as the Note will, at times, hunt for a focus point. We’d prefer for the Note to have a tap to focus override as well. Overall, we really like the camera on the Galaxy Note. Although the 8MP sensor is probably identical to the one in the Galaxy S II, we see that Samsung has optimised it further in the Note, and the result is, quite simply, mighty impressive. Pictures come out vivid and pin sharp, colour reproduction is fairly accurate as well — in most cases at least. Low light performance is also better than average. While noise is still noticeable, the camera didn...

Proton 2012 model baru Proton Espire

Image

Samsung Galaxy Note contract plans compared

Image
The Samsung Galaxy Note is officially available with both Celcom & DiGi offering contracted plans with subsidised pricing. Some might ask, which plan offers better value? To find out, we’ve listed out all plan options according to contract period and calculated the total minimum ownership cost. Head after the break for the full breakdown If you’re looking the bare minimum contract plan of 12 months, both DiGi and Celcom are available with a total of 5 options to choose from. While DiGi appears to be lower in commitment, there’s a big glaring difference when it comes to bundled call and SMS. DiGi Smart Plans are purely for data and if you don’t really make much calls and rely heavily on internet for communication (WhatsApp,Line, Kik), this might be the plan for you. If you do make a lot of voice calls and SMS heavily, Celcom plans are better as an all rounder. For contracts longer than 12 months, Celcom is the only provider that offers 18 months while DiGi dominates the 24 mont...

Kia's new Ray

Image
Kia Ray is Kia's first attempt in the Kei-car segment and I got to say it looks promising. Although Ray has a smaller dimension compared to Kia's previously smallest production car, the A-segment Kia Picanto, the Ray will have a flexible interior layout with room for 4 adults comfortably. Kia Ray opted the 1-box styling, resemblance of Daihatsu Materia. It's boxy, but we can't deny that the Ray is stylish in its own way. Kia Ray is a good example that boxy car doesn't have to look boring. The young looking front end, daytime running lights with the floating Kia's signature grille at the centre give the Ray a bit of curves, and the huge wheel arches gives the car a bold stance. I love the way they blacken the top part of the D-pillar so that it looks less boring. In case if you didn't notice, the rear passenger door on the right side uses a slide mechanism which promote easier ingress and egress. Kia promises a fuel efficient and spacious...

10 inventions that wiped out businesses

Image
The forward march of technology is both unforgiving and unstoppable. As it mercilessly weeds out the old in favor of the new, once-beloved products and services become less favored by consumers, while others simply become obsolete. It’s always been this way. The horse and buggy was once the dominant means of travel for Americans, but once the automobile was invented formerly solvent buggy makers found themselves out of a job. This dynamic repeats itself whenever an invention comes along that significantly improves on a previous one. It’s particularly true when the invention offers convenience and ease of use. What follows is a list of products and services that became so indispensable to consumers that they instantly lost interest in their previous favorites. What are some inventions that killed other products and services? lets find out. Apple iPod The iPod is a portable media player introduced by Apple in 2001. Prior to the iPod, the Sony Walkman was the most popular music playe...

Volkswagen Passat CC

Image
The sexy Volkswagen Passat CC 4-door coupe has been facelifted, and now it's better than ever! The facelifted Passat CC (above) gained a more upmarket looking front end, resemblance of the Passat Sedan's front end, but only sleeker. The front and rear lights ditched the round theme and went for a more angular theme. Thus, Volkswagen had successfully made the Passat CC sportier after the facelift exercise. New daytime running LED lights are incorporated into the headlights, something which you can easily find in a Volkswagen.

Proton Exora REEV Bags 2 Awards in RAC Future Car Challenge 2011

Image
Kudos and congrats to Proton for winning 'The Best Overall Extender Range/Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (E-REV)' and 'The Most Energy Efficient Multi-Purpose Car-Prototype' in the RAC Future Car Challenge! The Best E-REV award was a draw with the Toyota Prius Plug In Hybrid, this shows that Proton technology is on par with some of the top automakers in the world! The challenge was held in London, where Proton competed with some of the world renowned car manufacturers with our very own Exora (REEV), Saga EV and Persona REEV. Proton Exora REEV was the winner of the Best E-REV last year, so Exora REEV is the winner in this category for two consecutive years! I'm sure Proton MD, Dato Sri Syed Zainal Abidin will be very proud of their achievement. Proton is looking forward to put these green vehicles into production, and most probably Proton Exora REEV will be available in Malaysia next year. Fingers crossed!
