Top 10 Android Phones

#1 Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2
The second version of the triumphant Galaxy S. When launched it was certainly Samsung’s finest smartphone to date. Comes in white as well as black.

#2 HTC Desire

HTC Desire
Desire by name and desirable by nature, this Android handset (2.2 FroYo) uses the latest HTC Sense interface that is being raved about. It has a huge 3.7 inch Super-LCD capacitive touchscreen, running at a very impressive 480x800px. Everything looks gorgeous on the Desire. There is a 5MP auto-focus, flash camera, GPS receiver, G-sensor and digital compass for geo-tagging and augmented reality application. And, naturally, there is a host of advanced music and video capabilities, plus the microSD card slot takes cards up to 32GB.

#3 Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung Galaxy S
With a display which not only rivals, but betters the much publicised and marketed ‘retina display’ of the iPhone 4 and with its impressively large 4” screen, the Samsung Galaxy S provides user with something different to many of the smartphones on the market today. A sleek design adds the astonishment of being able to cram up to 40GB of enough photos, apps, music and videos onto the phone to keep you busy for hours. The cost is certainly high, but if you want the closest thing to the iPhone 4 that wasn’t made by Apple, then this is the phone for you.

#4 Xperia X10 Mini Pro

Xperia X10 Mini Pro
When it languishes in its almost antiquated use of Android 1.6, it may be a surprise to see the Xperia X10 feature so high in my top ten list. But as the best Android camera phone on the market with one of the best battery life spans, it suddenly becomes unique in what is has to offer. As the ‘Mini’ in its name suggests the X10 Mini Pro is also one of the most portable Android options, featuring a full slide out qwerty keyboard and with an update to Android 2.1 due later in the year, there is more and more reason to make this phone the Android of choice.

#5 Samsung Infuse 4G

Samsung Infuse 4G
This phone has a great design as well as a front and back facing camera. :) Great for pictures and internet use.

#6 Motorola Milestone XT720

Motorola Milestone XT720
Despite not featuring the most attractive design in the Android asteroid field, the Motorola Milestone offers something different, a phone for business, a desk away from the office, or at least the best opportunity to pretend that some work is going on. With a lag free user experience there is none of the frustration that applies to so many Smartphone releases, add to that the super thin slide out QWERTY keyboard and you are looking at a very attractive piece of kit to help re-launch Motorola into the smartphone market.

#7 HTC Legend

HTC Legend
The HTC Legend has the look and feel of a new-generation smart phone, with its broad, rectangular shape and the colorful clarity of its large display. But at heart, it’s really just a simple, old-fashioned cell phone with a few cool features such as social networking accessibility, a high-quality camera, and fast internet access. It doesn’t have too many features, but it gets the job done.

#8 HTC Hero

HTC Hero
Despite the bizarre addition of the Jimmy Hill like chin pointing out from the lower end of the Hero’s otherwise acceptable design, this was one of the first phones to demonstrate what could be done with the Android system and was somewhat of a breakthrough. The Heptic feedback feature, whilst not thoroughly necessary, is a nice touch to create a genuine ore intuitive touch screen experience and with OS updates on the way, there may just be time left for a hero of the day yet.

#9 Nexus One

Nexus One
Let’s face it, when it comes to the world of Smartphones, the iPhone has been the king and looks set to continue that trend. However that shouldn’t stop you checking out the Nexus one, beating its Apple enemy on paper and being just as pleasurable and easy to use. With multitasking made a breeze by the impressive hardware, the latest update adds 720p video recording, iTunes synching and ‘Wi-Fi Hotspotting’, all making this a genuine competitor to the dominance of the iPhone.

#10 HTC Desire HD

HTC Desire HD
The HTC Desire HD is an Android fan’s dream! Made from a block of solid aluminium the handset comes with a 4.3 inch LCD screen, 1GHz 8255 Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording, Dolby Mobile, and HSPA+ data with 802.11n WiFi.
