Internet income report for SPblogger Dec2010

Well done Vibrant, Google AdSense, ContextWeb and BlogAds. All of them hit record high on December. Once again, Vibrant is the big boss. It is really the king of in-text ads. I published Infolinks and Kontera ads previously. They could not even come near to Google AdSense earning, not to mention overtake it like Vibrant did.
Internet income report for December 2010
Vibrant – US$ 976.25 (RM 2945.15)
Google AdSense – US$ 901.01 (RM 2718.16)
ContextWeb – US$ 540.10 (RM 1629.37)
BlogAds – US$ 146.46 (RM 441.84)
Nuffnang – US$ 78.99 (RM 238.31)
Grand Total: US$ 2642.81 (RM 7972.83)
1 USD == 3.0168 RM. Err… USD is getting weaker each day. Look like this dropping trend will continue on year 2011. Hopefully, increased blogs’ traffic can cover currency conversion loss.
By the way, this is my last Internet income report. Thanks to those who follow these reports. Hopefully, it encourages you to continue blogging. I did a proof of concept myself. Online blogging really can bring revenue to you. It replaces my 8 to 5 daily job. You can do the same too.

Malaysian Bloggers Earn Up to $1 Million MYR Annually?

Fellow Malaysian bloggers are earning up to RM1 million annually and their revenue are taxable income.
The first news in this morning that caught my eyes is about “Malaysian bloggers earn up $1 million Ringgit (~USD$327,500) annually”.
“Wow! Who is that?”
According to the daily [Berita Harian], bloggers, who post their personal accounts are now exploiting their blogs for business transactions or advertisement placements, earning an average monthly income of RM70,000.
The daily highlighted blogger Mira Abu Bakar, whose highest monthly income revenue through advertising revenue was RM12,000 in 2008.
Mira, who has been operating her blog Redmummy.com since 2005, earns an average monthly revenue of RM2,000.
She admitted that she had to declare her side income with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) as she was unaware about it until she received an audit.
An IRB spokesman said online businesses including via Facebook were bound by the Income Tax Act 1967 and their income were taxable just like fixed income.
[via TheStar Online]
Apparently, Mira is NOT the millionaire blogger. The RM1 million revenue is for fellow Malaysian bloggerS.

We can use it with UNIX also. To use Ekiga, we should have SIP account. Meanwhile, to make PC to phone calls, you should have account with any VoIP service provider. Although Ekiga people recommend Diamond card Worldwide Communication Service but there are many other VoIP service providers like Vonage, Axvoice, Broadvoice etc.

(Editor note: Gizmo5 has been acquired by Google on November 12, 2009)

Skype for Linux

skype linux voip software
The most commonly used VoIP application is Skype. It has approximately 500 million users across the globe. The reason behind its popularity is that it is built on the basis of another VoIP service and users do not have to deal with the complicated SIP settings. Although, Linux version of the product is not as comprehensive as that of windows but still it is useful for the people who want to use it on Linux. However, there are many who fail to detect camera with Skype.

Empathy

This software is like an universal client for various instant messengers or chat software. Nearly all the chat software features are included in this software. This software is included in Gnome in its 2.24 version.

Check with your VoIP provider

The point to remember is that only software is not enough if you want to make VoIP calls. You have to subscribe with some VoIP provider also. There are several VoIP providers like Vonage, Axvoice and Skype etc. Some VoIP providers recommend particular software for their service. Before you install the software, you should ask your service provider if any particular application is required for their application.
Guest post: This article is written by Mr. Zach Ripples. Blogging is his passion and he has been doing this since he was an O level student. His favorite topic is VoIP technology. Currently He is working for Axvoice – Internet Phone Service Provider in USA and Canada.

Download Firefox 4 Beta Now. It is FAST!

Firefox 4 beta is now available for download now and it is few times faster than previous version. Users are also encouraged to give feedback about the beta version.
Firefox 4 has a slicker look and tab bar is at the top by default. Some new features are Firefox settings synchronization, tabs organizer, and new add-on manager that opens in tab.
A major improvement of Firefox 4 Beta is the huge performance enhancements (few times better than Firefox 3.x).

Refer to the chart below:
firefox 4 performance
I downloaded the Firefox 4 beta 10 for Mac OS X version. In order to test Firefox 4 beta in production, I have set Firefox as my default browser (I was using Google Chrome as default web browser).
In my test, loading Facebook.com is about 1 second faster than Google Chrome. The memory usage is well kept under 300MB, while Google Chrome is a memory monster!
In a nutshell, I like Firefox 4 and I will try it for a longer time to see if Firefox will return to be my permanent default browser or not.

Chocolate-themed Smart Car

Car manufacturer Mercedes Benz on Wednesday unveiled a chocolate-themed version of its Smart car in Tokyo, just a couple of weeks before St. Valentine's Day

Car manufacturer Mercedes Benz on Wednesday unveiled a chocolate-themed version of its Smart car in Tokyo, just a couple of weeks before St. Valentine's Day.
It was uncovered at the International Fashion Fair in Tokyo.
The car looks as if it is fully wrapped up by hundreds of chocolate bars.
The body and interior of the two-seater compact car were specially designed by Japanese accessory maker Q-pot for the fashion event.

Smart Car Vending Machine in Japan

Japanese Smart Car Vending Machine photo
Smart Marketing in Japan
The clever "vending machine" pictured above is located in Japan. You can't really buy a smart car from it, but you can get brochures and info about the various smart models. Yeah, it is anti-climactic.
Smart Car: Good and Bad
The smart fortwo is certainly a mixed bag. While the diesel version gets in the 60+ miles per gallon range and can be run on biodiesel, the gasoline version is only rated at a combined 36 miles per gallons by the EPA. But that doesn't take away from the smart's impact in making very small urban cars more mainstream, and making other compact cars look bigger in comparison.

Upcoming Smart-like Cars
The teacher might soon be surpassed by the students: Toyota's iQ urban microcar looks like it might be more practical with its 3+1 seating configuration, and it will probably have better performance and fuel economy than the smart car in the gasoline model. There's also the all-electric Mitsubishi's i MiEV which shares many design elements (though it is bigger).

Ferrari’s revolutionary new four-seater, all-wheel drive FF

The replacement from Ferrari for the 612 Scaglietti model is finally here after much hype and expectations. The concept of this car comes from the well known Maranello, thus in turn increasing the expectations from the upcoming car. The car will be called the Ferrari Four aka FF. The FF is all set to become one of the most versatile models that the company has ever produced. A four seater with ample luggage space, the car is equipped with an all wheel drive system and a shooting brake body style. This year’s March edition of The Geneva Motor Show will see the release of the much awaited car.

Ferrari's fantastic four-wheel-drive FF flagship four-seat fastback

Ferrari FF
The long-anticipated successor to the 612 Scaglietti takes the stage as Ferrari's flagship grand tourer. It carries four seats like its predecessor, but elongates the roofline for a shooting brake/hatchback body-style that offers plenty of cabin space and – with those rear seats folded down – as much cargo capacity as a small wagon.

It may be the first shooting brake to roll out of Maranello since the legendary 250 Breadvan, but that's not even the extent of the firsts pioneered in the new Ferrari Four. It also carries the company's long-in-the-making part-time all-wheel drive system: the innovation is called 4RM, and while technical details haven't been revealed, it is said to be only half as heavy as a conventional system, helping the front-engined shooting brake keep a 47:53 rearward weight bias. Coupled with a sub-4,000 pound curb weight (some 110 pounds less than the 612), the HELE stop-start system previewed in the California concept from the Paris show also helps keep emissions and fuel consumption down.

Of course nobody buys a Ferrari for its environmental credentials, so here's the info you've been waiting for: 0-62 in 3.7 seconds (a third quicker than the 612) and a top speed of 208 mph (about nine mph faster than the 612). Credit that bit to the all-new, direct-injection, 6.3-liter V12 and its 651 horsepower and 504 lb-ft of torque, which you can read about – together with the other technical details – in the press release after the jump. Ferrari's also launched a dedicated microsite for the new flagship.

U Mobile broadband= 5 sen per MB!!

image
In conjunction with U Mobile BlackBerryservice launch, U Mobile has reduced their PAYU data rates from 1 sen per KB to 5 sen per MB! That’s a huge difference.

This takes effect immediately today 21st January 2011 on all excess usage on U Mobile broadband plans. Based on the new PAYU usage of 5 sen per MB, that’s equivalent to RM50 per GB upon exceeding your bundled data quota. For power users, it is still recommended that you go for UB68 which comes with no excess charge if you exceed 5GB of usage.
You can check out more details of U Mobile Broadband Plans here.

UMobile reveals BlackBerry Plans & Packages

U Mobile offering FREE 6 months subscription for early birds & U Mobile’s BIS service also available when roaming into Celcom 2G areas.

image
On device bundle, they are offering the BlackBerry Bold 9780 for RM1700 while the BlackBerry Curve 9300 for RM1075 on 12 months contract of the monthly RM40 BIS plan. Both BlackBerries will be covered with a 24 months warranty.
image
On the mobile usage such as voice and SMS, there’s a special Pay As You Use (PAYU) voice plan that offers. Voice calls are charged at a modest 18sen/minute to all networks while SMS is charged at 5 sen to U Mobile and 12 sen to other networks. There’s no commitment for this PAYU plan so you just pay whatever you use on top of your BIS plan.
UPDATE: U Mobile is also doing an Early Bird promotion where they are giving out 6 months Free BIS service on 12 months postpaid contract. This gives you a total savings of RM240. The FREE 6 months however only takes place from the 7th till 12th month of your subscription.
10. How does the device bundling promotion of “Early Bird” works?
Under “Early Bird” promotion, subscriber is required to pay for the 1st 6 months BlackBerry® Internet Service Fees. The FREE monthly subscription will only apply on the next following 6 months of your bill.
While U Mobile normally doesn’t give you data while you are in domestic roaming, surprisingly you still can use BIS on Celcom 2G network albeit on slower EDGE/GPRS speeds. So this means that U Mobile’s BIS is now available nationwide and not just limited to U Mobile’s 3G coverage areas. However just like its U Mobile 3G Broadband, other data services such as WAP, tethering and video streaming are not available while roaming on Celcom. All these were hidden under the Early Bird FAQ on U Mobile’s Blackberry page.
13. Am I able to use the service when I am roaming on Celcom 2G?
Yes, you are able to perform all normal voice call, messaging (sms and mms), internet browsing and BlackBerry® service mentioned in Question1 nationwide. In Celcom 2G network, data speed will be at GPRS or EDGE. However, you’re not able to view Youtube, access the WAP Page & Internet Tethering while in Celcom 2G network.
For more information, visit U Mobile’s BlackBerry page.

Android concept phone

Designed by interaction designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen, the Flip phone is convincingly something we all can look forward to may three to four years down the line.
The party trick of the Flip is its three screens that can transform into different interfaces depending on what the user wants to do with it. The designer says that having three screens on a phone opens up a number of possibilities in dealing with the content on the device. Like the ability to expand content onto multiple screens or having multiple apps running on separate screens, it’s possible for the user to do a lot more productive, and creative things.
Video presentation and pictures of the Flip concept Android phone after the jump.
