All-New 2014 Honda City Launched In India: Five Variants From Rs 8.62 lakh (RM45k)

India has become the first country in the world to launch, sell and manufacture the all-new fourth-generation 2014 Honda City. Offered in five variants which now includes a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel (nothing we’ll see here), the all-new Honda City has a starting price of Rs. 8.62 lakh to Rs.10.98 lakh (RM45,445 to RM57,887 when directly converted to Malaysian Ringgit).
Before the new Honda City does make an appearance in our country later this year, here’s a quick overview of what you can expect from the fourth-gen B-segmenter: Performance:
Having mentioned the first-time inclusion of a diesel i-DTEC engine, you can now ignore it. The diesel City and its six-speed manual transmission promises just 3.8l/100km in fuel consumption, but Malaysia is very, very unlikely to be slated to have the option.
As for what will come here, Honda will be introducing a slightly improved version of the existing 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine from the current City, and with that stands 117hp, and a choice of a five-speed manual (5.6l/100km) or a CVT transmission with a torque converter (5.5l/100km).
Exterior Design:
The new City is instantly recognisable as part of Honda’s current design language. You’ll see this in the front when the solid wing face chrome grille initiates the new design, which is garnished by 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, front fog lamps, a shark fin antenna on the roof, and an electric sunroof – for starters.
Overall, the new Honda City puts up a good fight against its arch nemesis, the Toyota Vios, for the title of the prettiest Japanese B-segmenter.
